Apologies to AllCarcentral.com's visitors. Mazda Raceway's, track management failed to inform of a new level of media ranking, which they had implemented and thus, left us standing on the outside of the fence even though AllCarcentral.com had its application approved. Therefore it is our greatest regrets that no trackside images were obtained of the great Porsche Museum cars that were running on the track. To view your favorite cars which were in the paddock, please follow the manufacture names available here .....

36th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, California.

The 36th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca presents to all, over 450 race cars and features 145 Porsche race cars of the past driven by their current owners. Also Porsche will provide the exquisite growl of the newest, most daring and most advanced vehicle Porsche has produced to date, the 2010 Porsche Panamera gran turismo.

"This year's Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presents the perfect opportunity to demonstrate that Porsche's DNA, its competitive spirit and drive for perfection, runs from the very first 356, Porsche No. 1 up through today's all-new Panamera," said Detlev von Platen, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America.

"We at Porsche are deeply honored to have been named the 'featured marque' on this, the 61st anniversary of the very first Porsche and the North American debut of the Panamera, the very latest Porsche," added von Platen.

To add to the normal over whelming fantastic display of Porsche race cars, four special cars will also be on site loan from the new Porsche Museum in Germany:

The 1960 Porsche Type 718 Formula 2 racing car, which gave Porsche its first Formula 2 world title and was driven in 1961 by Californian Dan Gurney, is making its North American debut.

The 1962 Porsche Type 804 Formula 1 racer , which was the car that brought Gurney to his French Grand Prix win that year. This car has not been in North America since the 1960s.

The 1962 Porsche Type 718 W-RS 8-cylinder Spyder , in which Gurney and Joakim Bonnier finished second at the Targa Florio in 1961, has also not been in North America for more than 40 years. In the 1960s, it was raced in the U.S. by Gurney, Bonnier and Phil Hill.

The Porsche GT1 98LM, which helped Porsche finish 1-2 at the 1998 24-hours of Le Mans event.

Also there will be four Porsche 917Ks noting the 40th anniversary of the iconic Porsche 917. These incorporate Porsche's revolutionary flat 12-cylinder engine.

Also to see are two Ferrari 512s and two Ford GT-40s, reminiscent of those competing in the late 1960s and conjuring up images of the 1969 Le Mans race where, at the finish, a Ford GT-40 won by a mere two seconds over a Porsche 908 , making history as the closest margin of victory at Le Mans and perhaps the most exciting race finish ever.

Original drivers, of these historic cars, in attendance are England's Sir Stirling Moss, often called "the greatest driver never to win the World Championship," driving a 1960 Lola MK I in Group 5A; South Africa's Desire Wilson (one of only five women to have entered an F1 World Championship Grand Prix), driving a 1952 Glockler Porsche in Group 3A; the USA's John Morton (lauded for accomplishments in Can Am, Trans Am, Indy Car, and endurance car racing), driving a 1985 Nissan GTP in Group 8A; and Kevin Buckler driving his 2003 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona overall winning Porsche GT3RS in Group 7B. Brian Redman (multiple winner of Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring) will drive the unique 1969 Porsche 917 PA (Porsche's first Can-Am effort) in Group 6B and a 1971 Porsche 908/3 (a twin to the car with which he won the 1970 Targa Florio ) in Group 7A.
