California is often listed as the place where the Car Culture in America came to be. In the late 1940's and 1950's Los Angles was the center of the Hot Rod and custom car movement. With time moving on into the new century, interest in cars has taken on a new look. We are at the threshold of vehicle motivation where the long standing gasoline and diesel powered vehicles are facing seriously competition from other power generating sources.

Just south of San Francisco, California is the center of computer and software development, collectively called Silicon Valley, where much interest is currently focused on the automobile. Highly developed computer batteries are being redesigned to power cars. Software and hardware is being developed to guide and control cars on the roadways.

I see this time period not unlike the time when the self powered vehicle was coming on to replace the horse drawn carts that were the mode of transportation on Americas roadways.

Just north of San Francisco is the unique area of Marin County. Known for rolling terrain, and a unique lifestyle all its own, with grid-locked freeways and lonely back roads.

Marin County also has Marin Luxury Cars in the Village of Corte Madera and the source of several road test reports within AllCarCentral's offerings.

As car dealerships go most resembles the next one. People however make a difference. Marin Luxury Cars has a very unique person named Paige Casamento who is also AllCarCentrals good friend and the reason we can offer may of our road test reports.

But this is not about road test this time. Paige invited us over for a little party that Marin Luxury Cars was sponsoring which Paige, as usual, was in charge of. Paige, with the dealership, usually shows off one of the new releases of the Jaguar-Land Rover-Volvo lines which they carry.

This day however was about paying homage to the older cars that have carried us to and from places distant and near. In the time period represented on this show field, Gasoline was still "King".

This day was also about the Jaguar F Type and the new Jaguar F Pace.

First before the vintage cars we had a look at the 2 new Jaguars on the floor. The latest F Pace is a AWD crossover set to compete with all the sport crossovers on and coming onto the market. As noted above I did not have the opportunity to drive this car but it is worth mentioning as it had great presence in the display. The F Pace has a more stylish set of features, reflecting its linage, than the Range Rover line that shares the dealership. This F Pace should fit in quite well with the Jaguar line as a sporting option with greater carrying capacity then the current 4 door models.

Of an interesting note, looking into the past, After the sidecar production period, Jaguar has made sporting coupes, saloons, limousines and sporting cars (sports cars) with a few outright race cars thrown in.

However Jaguar, to this writers knowledge, has never ventured into the more utilitarian models such as shooting brakes or estate wagons. Other than the 1965 era where 3 Prototype 'estate' models, called the 'Country' were said to be made. So this is a new but popular model line which is being followed by Porsche, BMW and many other manufactures.

Oh yes, back to the car show. Vintage and historic cars have always been a coveted item and even more so today. Marin Luxury Cars and Paige opened up several rows on their parking lot for the show and display. Which featured several Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show cars, race cars and all around interesting and beautiful examples of great automotive engineering and style. All carefully preserved and cared for.
