In celebration of 100 years of Bertone, the Concorso Italiano presents:

In November of 1912 Giovanni Bertone started a carriage manufacturing and repair business in Turin, Italy. Three workers helped him to build horse-drawn vehicles.

In 1914, Giuseppe Bertone, nicknamed Nuccio, second son of Giovanni,was born. Nuccio was to become known worldwide as the signature of one of the great Italian style masters of the world.

The outbreak of the first world war affected Giovanni Bertone and he was forced to close his shop. After the war ended the shop reopened and they concentrated on automobiles. Starting with the SPA 23S then a Fiat 501 Sport Siluro Corsa. Nuccio joined the company in 1933.

World War II moved most all manufacturing to military based machines. After the end of the war years Bertone once again returned to cars creating cars like the Lancia Aprilia Cabriolet and the Fiat 1100 Stanguellini racing car. At the end of the 1940s, Nuccio Bertone turned to racing building his own cars.

Bertone working with Alfa Romeo brought on such creative designs like Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica (BAT) concept cars which moved forward the boundaries of car design and aerodynamics. See the BAT 5 (1953), the BAT 7 (1954), BAT 9 (1955) and later the BAT 11.

February 1997 Nuccio Bertone died. Nuccio's wife Lilli promise Nuccio that she would take the company to its 100 year, which she did and the The Bertone Nuccio Concept 2012 car is her tribute to that promise.

The Bertone Nuccio Concept, previously shown at Geneva and Beijing Auto shows, has a windshield that is flared out at the top. This was done to give more visibility to the driver. This resulted in the 'brows' over the doors. The drive train is from a Ferrari 430.

Notice that there is no rear window.. Rear vision is supplied by 2 cameras. One to see the road and the cars behind and one for seeing close-up for parking and backing. The orange is the color of the Bertone offices.
