Gooding & Company reported record sales for 2011 on collector cars.
The 2011 year-end sales of more than $131 million, was a 14% increase in sales from 2010 results. The auction house had 37 world record sales, including those from a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype that sold for $16.39 million, the world's most valuable car ever sold at auction, and the Whittell Coupe Duesenberg Model J that sold for $10.34 million, the most valuable American car ever sold at auction. Two-hundred and ninety cars were sold at auction throughout the year, averaging $451,867 per car sold. Included were 27 cars sold at values greater than $1 million each.

Attendees will be able to take rides in a 1913 Stutz Bearcat from the National Automobile Museum collection in Reno, Nevada, and rides in Model T and Model A Fords supplied by local clubs. In addition.
Featured marques are Stutz, Packard, Pierce-Arrow, Bentley, Rolls-Royce and classic Volkswagens. Also Chevrolet's 100th anniversary with antique motorcycles, wooden boats, art-deco trailers and campmobiles.

John Surtees the only man to win world championships in both motorcycle racing and in Formula 1, will be at the 61st annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, Aug. 21.
Surtees raced motorcycles winning seven class world championships and won his first F1 race In 1963, then his F1 world championship in 1964 in a V8-powered Ferrari 158 that will be at Pebble Beach.
Surtees later formed his own racing team, which competed for nine seasons.

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 2011:
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTO, more than twenty of these exclusive sports racing cars will take to the show field of the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, August 21.
Thirty-six 250 GTOs were originally produced, and there are two 330 GTOs with larger capacity engines. All of these exclusive cars have been invited to the Concours and more than half have already accepted the invitation. Some of these GTOs have sold for as much as $30 million in recent years.

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 2011
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance has announced the featured marques and classes for the 2011 competition. The 2011 year event will celebrate the 125 anniversary of the automobile. In 1886, Karl Benz received the first patent for a gas-propelled car.
The 2011 featured marques are:
The creations of Benz and Daimler and their successors -- notably, Mercedes and Mercedes-Benz;
Early Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts (1907-1919);
Stutz Centennial;
The Birth of the Ferrari 250 GTO; and
Italian Motorcycles.

Gooding & Company expects to break the All-time World Auction Record with this rare offering.

with only 7,367 miles on the car. Believed to be the "lowest-mileage Roadster in existence," says David Gooding.
