This years American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca along with Chevrolet, will host a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of First Corvette participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . There will be a display of Historic Corvette Race Cars and appearances by legendary Corvette drivers.

High-tech, high-speed Le Mans prototypes and GT machines of the American Le Mans Series race from a Saturday afternoon-into-evening in a six-hour race. The show includes Playboy Mazda MX5 Cup, Cooper Tires prototype Lites Championships, the Patron GT3 Challenge by Yokohama, Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear and Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship powered by Mazda. "Our fans will be treated to over 11 hours of racing over the weekend," said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this May 20-22 has the support of the U.S.Department of Energy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and has emerged as the Global Leader in Green Racing.

Under this partnership all of the ALM race cars compete using alternative fuels and/or powertrains (clean diesel, E85, E10, E10/electric hybrid, isobutanol).

Automobile manufacturers that race in the Series develop fuel efficient technologies for future customer cars through the Series' innovation in technology.

Domestic and international automobile manufacturers with the ALM Series' innovation in technology are literally changing the world of motorsports.

The American Le Mans Series became engaged with the "Green Initiative" early on and for the last five years, they have added a new or advanced fuel each year. From a historical look back, Gasoline is a relatively recent fuel choice. The early history of the automobile is all about bio fuels. The inventor of the four-stroke engine in 1876, Nicolaus Otto, ran his engines on ethanol. Rudolph Diesel ran his first single cylinder engine in 1894 on peanut oil and Henry Ford designed his Model T to run on ethanol.

In the 2009 race at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. Dyson Racing ran BP's new biofuel blend with isobutanol in the number 16 LMP2 Mazda Lola coupe. Isobutanol' is now approved for the American Le Mans Series in the prototype classes.

Ecologically conscious developments for consumer cars in the future are the driving force in racing research. Advanced Engine Research, Mazda, BP and Castrol teaming up, used the Mazda MZR-R four-cylinder turbocharged engine developed by AER and set in Dyson Racing's Lola coupe as their development tool.
