Air Car 2012

Air Car 2012

MDI AIR POWERED CAR
Initiated and directed by Guy NEGRE the CEO with goals to promote and develop ecological energies; conceive and produce non-pollutant vehicles and systems in 1991.

Previous projects include a rotary distribution device for a R8 GORDINI which produced 152 HP at 11 000 rpm, light aircraft engines (SACMA) and the development of a 3.5 liters W 12 engine, for Formula 1 races in the 80s.

Guy NEGRE, has designed nearly one hundred engines to date, including compressed air engines.

MDI employees fifty engineers and technicians working on compressed air driven vehicles with the support of TATA Motors, the exclusive licensee for MDI's technologies in India since 2007.

MDI is developing 2 engine concepts. A mono-energy engine operating on a totally eco-friendly basis using compressed air stored at high pressure and dual-energy engines where petrol, diesel, oil, alcohol or gas is burned in an external continuous combustion chamber. Dual-energy engines provide more range with minimal amount of toxic gases released. Mono-energy engines can be used in urban vehicles, where dual-energy engines can be used where more range is required.

The MDI car is reported to reach a speed of 68 mph and can travel roughly 124 miles or some 8 hours of travel in an Urban area. which is more than double the road coverage of an electric car. For recharging the tank, the car can be connected to a 220V outlet for 3 to 4 hours or it can be attached to an air pump at a station and recharged in only 2 minutes.
