Surf Air Serata Italiana Lamborghini Gala 2013

When an opportunity to join great people and great cars, what is there to think about?

The opportunity was the Lamborghini Club America's Surf Air Serata Italiana Lamborghini Gala at the most beautiful Pasadera Country Club, Monterey. This was a marriage of several fantastic and very similar elements. Fast Cars, Faster Planes, and surroundings to match the quality of both the Cars and planes.

Lamborghini Club America had partnered up with Surf Air to host the 'Surf Air Serata Italiana Lamborghini gala'.

Surf Air is a new Luxury All-You-Can-Fly Membership Service that was just launched and is a new, convenient way to fly between the Los Angeles metro area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Santa Barbara California. The Surf Air innovative concept allows, with a nominal monthly fee, members to have access on unlimited flights on executive aircraft to and from private air terminals. Something like ones' own chauffeur driven Lamborghini in the sky.

Arriving at the Pasadera Country Club we found the greatest collection of metallic colored Lamborghinis one could have asked for, all parked in front of the building. Nice start.

Once tickets were collected we walked through an archway into the inter-courtyard where we were handed a glass of sparkling wine. In front of us and to the right was an additional collection of Lamborghinis starting with the first front-engined cars and expanding to the latest street models. The collection was terminated at the main hall with a 1992 Lamborghini powered Minardi FI car.

After having a look at all the shiny metal set against trees, lights and fountains we moved inside to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and conversation with several Club members.

The main event of the evening was a 4 course sit down dinner, menu designed by acclaimed chef Raul Cervantes, in a specially set-up tent complete with a small stage. The pre, and it proceeded through dinner, entertainment was the wonderfully outspoken and racecar driver Adam Carolla who was at Monterey racing his 1970 Datsun 510 and 1974 Datsun 260Z.

At one point Valentino Balboni joined Adam on stage. Valentino Balboni was Lamborghini test driver. He started with Lamborghini in 1968 when he was 19 years old, and during his 40 years with the company, it is estimated that he has personally driven 80 percent of all Lamborghinis made.

As an outside observer of the Lamborghini Club America, I was very impressed with the event and with the co-host Surf Air. The night's theme of "Ignite Your Senses & Take Flight", was spot on and inline with 50th Anniversary of Lamborghini.
