This Porsche has never had any race provenance, as this 917/30 chassis was the intended to follow Penske's 1973 car, for the 1974 Can-Am season. However Penske found out that the SCCA was changing the rules to brake the 917's advantage, so the already delivered 917 chassis sat unfinished is a corner of the shop for a number of years until sold to a private buyer where the car moved from owner to owner until Peter Harburg refinished it in the period Penske Sunoco 917/30 livery and put it on track and into the vintage race world.
