Plug-In 2008 Car Show

The "Plug-In 2008" Inaugural Three-Day International Conference
With the energy prices rising all over the world, the ubiquitous automobile, which is the background fabric of industrialized societies, is now the target of forced change. The Plug-In 2008 conference is set to discuss and exhibit the innovations and concepts that may map of the future of transportation and its appliances of conveyance.

At the heart of this assemblage is the California Air Resources Board now requiring up to nearly 66,000 PHEVs and other enhanced advanced technology partial zero-emission vehicles on the state's roads each year from 2012 to 2014 - requirements with national implications. Also worth noting, the European Commission is working on proposals to reduce automotive polluting emissions to a level of 144 grams per Kilometer.

The "Plug-In 2008" inaugural three-day international conference will showcase the latest technological advances, market research and policy initiatives shaping the future of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

The "Plug-In 2008" includes: Domestic and international vehicle manufacturers specializing in plug-in technology; Industrial, heavy-duty and bus manufacturers specializing in plug-in technology; Battery and drive train suppliers and developers; Solar, wind and other renewable energy companies; Electricity, hydrogen and other fuel suppliers; Automotive, industrial and heavy duty component suppliers; Infrastructure and service suppliers; Government agencies and laboratories; Universities with breakthrough technology programs; Industry, environmental and consumer associations.

Also attendees can experience highly interactive discussions on the vision of PHEVs, with Senior representatives from the automotive manufacturers, high-technology component manufacturers, electric utilities, state and federal government, business and environmental community.

Exhibitors will showcase the latest innovations associated with PHEVs and supporting electricity infrastructure. Exhibits will include vehicles, batteries, powertrains, smart meters and grid management tools, and vehicle-to-home (V2H) applications.

Engineers and scientists will share the most current technical research on PHEVs in areas including batteries, powertrains, electricity grid design, vehicle-grid communication links, vehicle to home (V2H) technology, and future vehicle to grid (V2G) connections.

Business analysts and market researchers will discuss the business case for PHEVs, including potential adoption scenarios, customer segments, profit potential, expanded opportunities to store and utilize renewable energy, and investment demands for vehicle manufacturers and utilities.

Policymakers will explain how current regulations impact PHEVs and the electricity grid, and how future regulatory mechanisms may accelerate the adoption of PHEVs and development of the necessary electricity infrastructure.

Clean-tech entrepreneurs, including renewable energy companies, will outline their ideas to enhance and expand the PHEV market with new technologies for vehicles, communication systems, and the electricity grid.

Qualified List Of Speakers
A well qualified list of speakers will cover the following subjects; The Potential and Challenges of PHEVs to Reduce Petroleum Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Today's Pathways to PHEVs: and Driving Toward Tomorrow.

Andy Grove, former Intel chairman and CEO, will provide a keynote address at Plug-In 2008, Tuesday, July 22, 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. (Exhibit Hall)

Other Plug-In 2008 event organizers include the Electric Power Research Institute, Pacific Gas & Electric, San Diego Gas & Electric (a Sempra Energy utility), the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and Southern California Edison.

Check out a short drive to tomorrow, when the inaugural Plug-In 2008 Conference & Exposition, taking place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, opens its doors to the public on July 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. See plug-in hybrid electric vehicles on the exposition show floor and learn about the potential for vehicles that average 100 miles per gallon, allow you to plug in at home instead of filling up at the gas station, and lower fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Exposition hall open: 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Panel discussion on topics including how consumers can help bring plug-in cars to market more quickly: 7:30 - 9 p.m. Speakers on the "Transforming Our Transportation and Energy Futures" panel:

Dan Reicher, Director of Climate Change and Energy Initiatives, Google.org, and former Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy

Mark Duvall, Program Manager, Electric Transportation, Electric Power Research Institute

Chelsea Sexton, Executive Director, Plug In America and former General Motors EV1 Specialist
