Opel founded by Adam Opel in 1862 with Opel's 150th anniversary in 2012. Opel and Vauxhall, its British co-brand are represented in over 50 countries with over one million passenger cars and light commercial vehicles sold in 2012. Opel is headquarters is in Rüsselsheim, Germany and as of December 2012, employs around 37,000 people in Europe, with 20,000 in Germany in its 11 plants and four development and test centers in seven European countries.
