I did a bit of sleuthing myself in 2004 among the Crosley car fans to find whether there was a link between the two companies, but it turned out that Powel Crosley was a Welshman and quite independent of the Crossley Brothers who stayed in the UK, though they were all highly inventive people.

The little Crosleys (1939) have become something of a collectors' item now, but original Crossley cars (1904) are rare, especially in Australia.

Crossley Motors Ltd, Gorton, Manchester, UK manufactured cars from 1904 to 1937, also building commercial vehicles and buses until 1958. They supplied many vehicles to the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces in both World War 1 and 2.

The car shown is the last model built by Crossley Motors and is a Regis, built between 1934 and 1937. This is a 1935 example, the chassis being exported to Australia and fitted with Ruskin Motor Bodies Coachwork of Melbourne. The body design is that of the English Regis car, not a Ruskin design. Chassis Number is 100389, Engine No. MC1742.

The car is shown in Hawks Nest, New South Wales, Australia and appears to be the only Regis in use in Australia.

If this photograph is of interest, I will send some more examples of Crossley cars for your web site. These photographs are my copyright and I agree with the conditions of your web site.
