According to the press release from the French auto company Venturi Automobiles in Monaco, exciting things are happening.

As you can see the evolution to electric cars is well and good with some impressive looking designs available for us to enjoy. The VENTURI GT3 billed as a French muscle car is shown in race form.

“After being one of the main players in the relaunchings of Grand Touring races in the 1990’s, Venturi is now making a return to the world of competition with the Venturi GT3.

Based on the 300 Atlantique, from which it has evolved considerably - except for the passenger compartment, 100% of its parts are new -, it meets the expectations of drivers and Venturi fans in strong-arm fashion with a V8 4.2 l engine of almost 500 hp whose torque attains 600 Nm. Fitted with a sequential 6-speed gear-box, this motopropellant arrangement is ideally positioned in the center…”

33rd Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races

The Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races were held for the 33rd year at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, California, this last August.

What started as a time and place to run a few old retired racecars around a race track 33 years ago has turned into a world recognized event, supported by leading automotive manufactures. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is now the site of pristine restored historic racecars delivered from around the world. The goal of the owners is to take a few laps at speed on a world class race track. This creates a magnificent site reminiscent of days gone by.

However, as bystanders witness decades passing before their eyes marked by the age and classes of the racing cars circling the track, history is also in the making.

Racecar drivers come to reunite with worthy steeds that once propelled them to victory and long separated Factory Team racecars can be found running on the same track once more. Every August the Monterey Peninsula turns into an all car central gathering place, an automotive haven for bystanders and participants alike.

In all corners of the Monterey Area are automotive events, too numerous for one person to cover and fully appreciate and the cars are not the only stars.

The Ferrari Challenge Race brought out matched Ferrari’s in two classes allowing great competition. One family fielded two cars, one in each class, which set the son in the smaller displacement car to challenge his father, both on the track and in the pits where the banter indicated the son wanted to be on par with his father in the horsepower department.

The other show was quietly taking place in the paddock where the display of Ferrari’s ran from the classics driven to the track, to the exotics set out for display.
