Prologue to Silverstone Classic 'World's Biggest Classic Motor Racing Festival'

All Car Central's Photojournalist Tim Surman turned in some nice images of The May 8th Silverstone Classic Media day. The May 8th Media day is held in preparation of the Silverstone Classic' event on 26,27 and 28th July and gathered up a large display of Corvettes. David Coulthard was out on track in Jim Clark's Lotus.

Scheduled for July are twenty-four races covering eight decades of Motorsport history. In addition are celebrations for the 100 years of Aston Martin, 50 years of the Porsche 911, 50 years of Lamborghini and 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette. Now that is a lot to take in. Not to mention 1000 exotic, rare, and valuable race cars competing on track.

The races will cover Formula 1, Grand Prix and Single Seater Cars of all ages and race groups; Sports Cars up to 1974; GT Cars up to 2000; and Touring Cars, again up to 2000. If it has wheels and goes fast, Silverstone Classic should have it available for all to see.

The GAZ-21 Car Club is sending 4 of its members from Moscow. Vladimir Smagin and Dmitry Kilpio are driving two Volga GAZ-21 all the way to Silverstone from Russia. The 6,000+ kilometer round trip to the UK driving through Minsk, Warsaw, Poznan, Hannover, Antwerp, Brugge and London en route to Silverstone.

Other new clubs attending the 2013 Silverstone Classic include the Abarth Scorpion Club, Corvette Club de France, Karmann Ghia Owners Club and Renaultsport Clio v6 V6Clio.net club.
