Desert Concorso 2014 Car Prologue
The inaugural Desert Concorso, in Palm Desert California is the latest venture by the wonderful people that put on the famous Concorso Italiano in the Monterey Bay Area of California during the great 'Car Week' each August. So why the Desert Concorso? Why not? Great cars, great sun. What could be better?
The Petersen Museum, located in Los Angeles will be showing some of its one-off European designs. Also on board is Riverside, California's, Riverside International Automotive Museum with their most extensive collection of Maseratis, which will fit right in with the overall Italian theme.
The brand new lifestyle event will celebrate European Automobiles, Fashion, Food, Music and Style in sunny Palm Desert
In addition to the Italian cars the field will display special interest sports cars from the US, UK, Germany, and France.
Our traveling to car events is mostly limited to local travel. but as the Desert Concorso is early in the year, we decided to escape the rainy weather and run down to sunny Southern California. However this was a 400-mile run and we tried to miss the rain and traffic, so we decided to make it a 2-day drive each way to have it a bit of a vacation.
A lunch stop at the Ventura California marina over looking the boats in the harbor.
On the way back we spent the early afternoon at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA. the grounds and art collection is magnificent. Image above is in the Japanese garden.
