Teams in Trouble

The 5th Belgrade Rally 2014 - Mirko Martinović Memorial, organized by The Rally Car Club MW Power of Belgrade was held on 26 October under the patronage of the Serbian Auto Alliance (SAS) and the Sports Car and Karting Alliance of Serbia (SAKSS).

Mirko Martinović, was a very popular rally champion, who was killed in a crash during the 36th Yu Rally in 2003

The total length of the rally was 207.66 km, which includes the length of special stages at 64.04 km. The rally has a total of 8 special stages on well-known terrains, 4 at Sureties and 4 on Košutnjaku.

Kandidati u problemima

U organizaciji Reli auto kluba MM Power iz Beograda 26. oktobra održan je 5. Beogradski rally 2014 - Memorijal Mirko Martinovića, a pod patronatom Srpskog auto saveza (SAS) i Sportskog auto i kartinag saveza Srbije (SAKSS), koje bi u buduće trebalo tretirati kao jednu organizaciju. Mirko Martinović, veliki reli šampion, nastradao je nakon udesa na brzinskom ispitu tokom 36. Yu rally-a 2003.

Ukupna dužina relija bila je 207, 66 km, od čega je dužina brzinskih ispita bila 64.04 km. Voženo je ukupno 8 brzinskih ispita na dobro poznatim terenima, 4 na Avali i 4 na Košutnjaku, naizmenično.

Tehnički pregled i strat takmičenja je bio kod bazena na Košutnjaku, umesto na Beogradskom sajmu kako je bilo predviđeno pravilnikom, a cilj ispred skupštine Beograda. Ceremonijalni start uoči relija, koji je bio zakazan za 25. oktobar ispred skupština Beograda, otkazan je.

Winners
Candidates for winning this year's Open Championship of Serbia rally, all were in big trouble, before and during the fifth Belgrade rally in 2014.

The main contender for the title, Bulgarian Krum Dončev driving a Ford Fiesta R5, winner of this year's 47th Serbia rally in 2014 and who was also leading the championship, was not ready for this event. Krum Dončev, the leader of the European Rally Trophy (FIA European Rally trophy), did not have his car readied after his last rally.

The rally was held in relatively cold weather which created some traction problems for the tires and is one of the reasons for the relatively large number of disqualifications. The cold also stopped a lot of spectators form joining in the rally, many less came than in previous years.

In the race for the championship title, Krum Dončev maintained first place as he had a sufficient supply of points coming into this rally. In second place was Gianluca Rocco, and third was Vladica Rabrenović.

Kandidati za osvajanje ovogodišnjeg Otvorenog šampionata Srbije u reliju bili su u velikim problemima, pre i u toku 5. Beogradskog relija 2014, zadnjeg ovogodišnjeg takmičenja. Glavni kandidat za osvajanje titule Bugarin Krum Dončev (Krum Donchev), Ford Fiesta R5, pobednik ovogodišnjeg 47. Serbia rally-a 2014 i vodeći u šampionatu nije bio spreman za ovo takmičenje. Naime, Krum Dončev je vodeći u Evropskom reli trofeju (FIA European rally trophy), automobil mu je nakon poslednjeg takmičenja na reparaciji i nije još bio spreman.

Drugi kanditat Slovenac Boštjan Logar, Citroen C2 R2 Max, odlično je započeo 5. Beogradski reli 2014, bio među vodećima, ali je sredinom relija zbog tehničkih problema bio primoran da odustane. Treći kandidat Vladica Rabrenović se na startu takmičenja pojavio sa novim automobilom, Renault Clio R3. Predhodni vlasnik je bio Aleks Humar, višestruki šampion Slovenije. Sa ovim odličnim automobilom bio je glavni kandidat za pobedu. Nažalost već na prvom brzinskom ispitu je izleteo, oštetio automobil i odustao.

Technical inspection and start was at the fountain on Košutnjaku instead of the Belgrade Fair as scheduled. Also the ceremonial start on the eve of the rally, scheduled for October 25 in front of City Hall, was canceled.

Another competitor, Slovenian Boštjan Logar, in a Citroen C2 R2 Max, after an excellent started fifth Belgrade Rally in 2014, and among the leaders, but still in the middle of the rally due to technical problems, was forced to withdraw.

The third candidate, Vladica Rabrenović arrived at the start with a new car, a Renault Clio R3 that was owned by Aleks Humar, multiple Champion of Slovenia. Vladica with this excellent car, became the leading candidate to win. Unfortunately on his first special stage, he damaged the car and disqualified.

Also among the teams to win the rally was Todor Stamenković in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, who lead from the beginning but then forced to withdraw due to technical problems.

Među kandidatima za pobedu na reliju bio je i Todor Stamenković, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, od početka je vodio, ali je i on bio prinuđen da odustane zbog tehničkih problema. Sa glavnim kandidatima u problemima pobednik takmičenja bila je posada Gianluca Rocco / Jovan Isailović, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, zasluženo. Dobro pripremljen automobil i hladna glava.

Na drugom mestu završila je posada živko Gajić / Tihomir Nikolić, Renault Clio RS, a na trećem ženska posada Jovana Jovanović / Nataša Tunguz, Citroen C2 R2 Max.

Na takmičenju je startovalo 25 posada, za naše uslove dovoljno, a završilo 17. Bilo je dosta izletanja i oštećenih automobila.

With the major candidates in struggling, the deservedly winning team was Gianluca Rocco / Jovan Isailović in their Subaru Impreza WRX STI. A well-prepared car and cool heads.

In second place Team of Zivko Gajic / Tihomir Nikolic, Renault Clio RS.

Third was the female crew of Jovan Jovanović / Natasha Tunguz, driving a Citroen C2 R2 Max.

The rally started with 25 teams, enough to qualify for the regulations, but ended with only 17 running. It was quite a crush of damaged cars.

Posebno dramatično bilo je izletanje Vladimira Zečevića, Peugeot 206 RC, na ukosnici na Košutnjaku, na prvom prolazu, prebrzo se približio kivini, oštro kočio, automobil se zaneo u desno, desnom stranom sišao sa asfala, udario u saobraćajni znak, propeo se i poprečio na krivini. Pokušao je da nastavi takmičenje, ali oštećenje vešanja prednjeg desnog točka je bilo preveliko, te je bio primoran da odustane.

Na krivini je ostao trag od iscurele rashladne tečnosti iz automobila. Ovo izletanje je snimio jedan od gledalaca mobilnim telefon i kasnije ga prikazivao zainteresovanim. Poslednje, 17. mesto, osvojio je uporni gost iz Bugarske Nikolai Kortelov, suvozač Nasko Tsonev, za upravljačem vremešnog automobila Opel Corsa.

Takmičenje je održano po relativno hladnom vremenu, što je bio jedan od razloga da je bilo puno manje gledalaca relija nego ranijih godina. Zbog toga i gume nisu baš najbolje držale, pa je i to jedan od razloga relativno velikog broja izletanja.

Especially dramatic was Vladimira Zečevića, in his Peugeot 206 RC, at the hairpin on Košutnjaku. On the first pass, he approached the Kivinen too fast, braking hard the car skidded to the right and hit a traffic sign. The Peugeot tried to continue, but damage to the right front suspension was too great, and he was forced to withdraw. The crash left a trail of leaked coolant from the car.

In the last place finishing 17th persistent Bulgaria Nikolai Kortelov and team member Nasko Tsonev, fighting to control their aging car Opel Corsa.
